What Can Go in Your Recycling Bin?

Recycling is an easy way to keep our community clean and reduce waste—but only when it’s done right. Placing the wrong items in the recycling bin can contaminate a whole load of recyclables, making them unusable. Here’s a quick guide to help you recycle properly:

✅ Items You Can Recycle:

  • Paper & Cardboard – newspapers, magazines, office paper, cardboard boxes (flattened), cereal boxes, and paper bags.

  • Plastic Containers – bottles, jugs, tubs, and containers marked with recycling numbers #1, #2, and #5.

  • Glass Bottles & Jars – clear, brown, and green glass containers (please rinse them first).

  • Metal Cans – aluminum and tin cans, empty and rinsed.

❌ Items You Cannot Recycle:

  • Plastic bags, wrap, or film (these clog recycling machines).

  • Styrofoam or foam products.

  • Food waste, liquids, or greasy items (like pizza boxes with grease).

  • Hazardous materials, batteries, or electronics.

  • Yard waste (grass, branches, leaves).

Tips for Better Recycling:

  • Rinse before recycling – containers should be clean and dry.

  • No bagged recyclables – place items loose in your bin.

  • Flatten cardboard boxes – this saves space and helps collection.

By following these guidelines, you’re helping keep our recycling program efficient and effective. Thank you for doing your part to protect the environment and keep Lynd a clean, sustainable community!
