Library
“A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life.” – Henry Ward Beecher
Lynd is proud to support literacy and community connection through our Little Free Library, located right in front of City Hall. A Little Free Library is a free book-sharing box where anyone may take a book or leave a book. It operates on the honor system and encourages a love of reading and lifelong learning for people of all ages.
For a broader range of library services, residents can visit the Marshall-Lyon County Library, just 8 miles away in Marshall. This library system includes locations in Marshall, Balaton, and Cottonwood and is part of the Plum Creek Regional Library System, which spans nine counties across Southwest Minnesota. As a member of the Minnesota Reciprocal Borrowing Compact, they also partner with the Minneota and Tracy Public Libraries to share resources and provide comprehensive services throughout Lyon County.
The Marshall-Lyon County Library's mission is to be a welcoming community space that encourages reading, learning, and exploration, helping individuals and communities thrive in a changing world.
